Goodbye To The Board - What I'll Miss « Thread Started on Jul 30, 2009, 1:39am »
Okay... so I'm surprised I haven't seen a thread started about this so I'll be the first.
Ana PM'd us all privately to ask what we would miss most about the board...
So I'll start this thread to see if anyone wants to share here:
1) What You'll Miss
2) How You Came To the Board
3) Where Are You Going Next? What Boards Do You Frequent? Bodysport? Siouxcountry? No where new... I'm already on them all
What I'll miss: Knowing that it's here. Knowing that when I fall off the militant fitness wagon I can come here where there are some girls doing MORE... trying HARDER... and I can get a good dose of inspiration from just reading their journeys.
How I Came To The Board: Started in 2001 on Monica Brandt's Board. Met Danitza and became online friends with her (who couldn't?? She's so awesome. Then came here when Danitza's board closed
Where I'm Going Next: Not Sure. Regularly post on Vegan Bodybuilding and Fitness... Sometimes post here, and lurk everywhere else.
I am sad the board is dissolving... but I understand. Thank you Ana... for keeping it alive as long as you did
Pain Is Temporary. It may last a minute, an hour a day or a year but eventually it will subside and something will take its place. If I quit, however, it lasts forever. - Lance Armstrong ___________________

I'm surprised too that nobody is saying anything. I've been with this board since it was a part of Danitza's website, and I've seen a lot of women come and go. A lot of things have changed around here. When I first joined, this board was a place for women to come who had one thing in common: their love for healthy eating, lifting weights, and competition. Our discussions were about figure/fitness and we were all very passionate.
Once people started expanding their interests, starting families, etc, things slowed down a bit. D got too busy to take care of the board anymore, and we almost shut down at that point. Thanks to Ana, we were able to stay open.
Don't get me wrong, because I'm very grateful to Ana...but sometimes I feel like this board isn't about fitness so much anymore. We have four entire sections about Fizeek Brazil, and the only place that's somewhat frequented is the journals section. Nothing against Fizeek because the clothes are beautiful - but I feel like this is Ana's site and not OUR site anymore.
Maybe I'm the only one who feels that way? Or maybe that's why nobody is saying anything. When the board first threatened to close, there was a ton of discussion, mourning, and concern from the ladies around here. Now it's really going to close, and nobody has anything to say.

Kristine, I am sorry you feel this board is no longer about fitness. It was never my intention to make you or anyone else feel this way.
There might be lot of people that share your feelings and don't want to express it. I apologize to them as well. I never wanted to let anyone down. I did the best I could.
I also know there are a lot of members that joined the Bodysport Board (most of the active members are there and started journals there) and are interacting over there and that's why there is not as much mourning over this board... because it continues on in a new place.
The very reason I am closing the board and opening the doors to the new board is because I am not able to maintain this board interesting and alive on my own. On the other board there are a team of experts on fitness, nutrition and training a lot more qualified than I am to guide people and keep the subject of fitness alive.
I am very sorry you were disappointed with the way the Board turned out. All I have tried to do was keep this board alive as a safe place for those that loved coming here and to share my interests with all of you. When I felt I was no longer able to do that i invited everyone to come to a new and safe environment where we can still share our friendship, lives and love for fitness.
I would love if you wanted to join us over there. Sorry for letting you down.

I don't feel like you let me down at all. I just feel like it's changed, and isn't the same as it used to be. Nothing wrong with change, but I was offering a possibility as to why long-time members aren't speaking up. I didn't realize so many people had gone to bodysport. Guess I'm out of the loop...

Hi Jewels,
I intend to leave everything as is for a couple of months to give the members that do not sign in very often time to come back and know where to find us.
